What is a "Birding Guide". Many people consider themselves birding guides and many establishments advertise birding guides but how many of these guides have the knowledge and skills to be able to guide serious birders. Birding is about more than ticking species (a seperate strand of people known as twitchers). Birding is about understanding the ecology, morphology, evolution, migration and life histories of the various species.
Our specialist Birding Guide courses are conducted by Brent and Grant Reed who are both qualified bird ringers and are amongst the best birding guides in Botswana. Allowing trainees to be involved in bird ringing exposes them to not only the many features that they would otherwise only have text-book information on, it also exposes them to the very important conservation and management of bird populations internationally. In turn these birding guides are able to educate guests on these issues. We firmly believe in our motto of "Conservation through Education"
Course length is a minimum of 2 days but may be as long as a fortnight.
