I want the experience, but not the qualification

If you are doing a course for life experience ...more than for the actual qualification there are really only 3 courses to consider. If you would like to gain a deep understanding of the wilderness, the fauna and flora and how these organisms are inter-related our 28day Level 1 and introduction to Level 2 course is ideal.

I want to learn as much as I can about the bush, the plants, the animals and the ecosystem of the Delta

If you would like to spend the maximum time on foot and learn the skills of tracking, shooting and approaching potentially dangerous animals then the Trails Guide course is ideal. A word of warning however, this course requires commitment and dedication and is not to be entered into lightly! This is not a walking safari holiday but a serious guide training course. You will be expected to put in long and hard hours of training with an unloaded weapon before getting onto the shooting range. You may be expected to walk for long distances in order to get the required encounters to qualify. It is however a wonderful and often life-changing experience.

I want to become a guide

If you are wanting to become a guide... our level 1 and introduction to level 2 is the ideal place to begin. Many choose to do this course and immediately follow it up with the Back-up Trails Guide Course but it is essential that you begin with getting your level 1 and possibly level 2 qualification before moving on to getting a Trails Guide qualification.

I am already qualified as a level 1 guide.

If you are already a qualified guide with level 1... depending on your academic prowess you may choose to self study level 2 or to join the level 1 and 2 training course to give yourself the best chance of passing the critical level 2 exam or you can do the level 2 refresher course which is shorter but concentrates specifically on the level 2 syllabus. While it is possible with a level 1 qualification to do the Back-up Trails Guide course we do recommend that you first do level 2.

I am already qualified as a level 2 guide.

If you are a level a level 2 guide... depending on your abilities and experience you can decide to be assessed for Back-up or Lead Trails guide or you can choose to further your academic knowledge and do your level 3. For guides in Botswana it is essential to do level 3 in order to become a Mobile Safari Guide or to provide any overnight activity.
